What Is Matcha Tea?

A Fine Powder
Matcha is specially grown green tea leaves that have been carefully ground into a fine powder. This means you consume all the nutrients & goodness found in the leafs.

Does Quality Matter?
Yes, it does. Low quality matcha will have bitter taste (it might be okay to use in baking). High quality matcha will have a lovely delicate green tea taste.
As a general rule if your matcha is a nice bright & vibrant green the quality is good.
Poppatea Matcha is Japanese ceremonial grade.
How Is Your Matcha Made?

Shaded For 25-30 Days
The green tea leaves are shaded to boost the nutrients contents.

Leaves Picked
The tea leaves are selectively picked and graded based on quality.

Steamed & Dried
Steaming the tea leaves helps to stop the leafs from oxidising. They are then rolled and dried.

Stems Removed
The stems from the leafs are carefully removed to improve the taste & quality of leaves.

Stored & Aged
The tencha leaves are stored & aged for several months to improve the taste profile.

A Fine Powder
The tencha leaves are slowly ground into a fine powder. This specialised technique is called stone grinding.

Packed At Source
Poppatea matcha is then packed into the final product packaging at source to protect your matcha & improve freshness .
