The simple method
You do not need a complicated setup. A cup or bowl and either a bamboo whisk or small electric whisk are enough to get started.
Step 1
Add about 1g (roughly ½ a level teaspoon) of matcha to your cup or bowl. Add 30–50ml of cool or warm water first.
Step 2
Whisk until smooth with a bamboo whisk or a small electric whisk. The aim is to break up clumps and create an even mixture.
Step 3
For hot matcha, top up with warm water. For iced matcha, add cold water and ice. For a latte, add your favourite milk.
Tip: Sifting the matcha first can make whisking easier, but it is not essential.
